Description
Atacama SMD-Z 7HD Atabites is a tub of high density filler designed for mass loading of your speaker stands. Delta shaped chips interlock together creating minimum air gaps and are more effective in practice than using sand, allowing your speakers to reach their full sonic potential. Supplied in 7Kg tubs.
Why fill your speaker stands?
Despite most stand-mount speakers being referred to instead as "bookshelf speakers", we'd always recommend putting such speakers on proper speaker stands rather than on a bookshelf (!) and you'll only get the best sound from your fillable speaker stands if you fill them with a high mass filler like these Atabites. This will "deaden" the speaker stands, reducing any "ringing" and the increase their mass to deliver improved bass response.
How much should I put in?
We recommend filling most stands half way up using Atabites, then testing the bass response in your room, then progressively fill the stands up a little more until bass response is upto an acceptable level.

How many tubs do I need?
For speaker stands with thin centre columns, 1 tub should be enough, but for most speaker stands with more substantial fillable columns, we recommend 2 tubs.
