What issues do Ethernet cables suffer from?
Whilst packet switching, timing, error correction and end-to-end transmission is covered by the OSI 7 layer Ethernet cable specification, sometimes the cables endure problems that can impact the signal quality.
The construction, connectors, materials and termination can all affect the audio performance. For example basic 'eBay-style' stranded Ethernet cabled which are unshielded commonly suffer from that grainy sound in hifi components that gives off a lot of background 'noise' effectively degrading sound quality.
