My Generation captured the raw energy of the mid-1960s British mod scene and introduced the band's classic lineup — Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon. Its aggressive sound, feedback, and power-chord attack helped lay groundwork for hard rock and punk decades later.
Its notable tracks included the title song with its defiant "...hope I die before I get old" lyric and one of rock's earliest bass solos, by Entwistle.
