Description

The Luxman B-100 Centennial Mono Power Amplifier has been created to celebrate LUXMAN’s 100th anniversary and to define a new reference point for the company’s power amplification. It is the first flagship monaural design of its kind since the B-1000f, introduced for LUXMAN’s 80th anniversary nearly two decades earlier.

Designed as a single-channel amplifier and sold individually, the B-100 Centennial is intended for use as a matched pair in uncompromising stereo systems. Every element reflects a pursuit of exceptional musical authority, from its advanced amplification circuitry and vast power supply to its mechanically controlled chassis.

The result is an amplifier capable of combining immense drive and loudspeaker control with the openness, tonal richness and expressive naturalness that remain central to the LUXMAN sound.

LIFES 1.1 Amplification for Greater Purity

At the heart of the Luxman B-100 Centennial Mono Power Amplifier is LIFES 1.1, the latest evolution of LUXMAN’s proprietary amplification feedback engine. First introduced in the M-10X, LIFES was developed as the successor to the company’s long-established ODNF technology, preserving musical naturalness while reducing distortion with even greater precision.

In version 1.1, the circuit has been further refined to improve linearity, lower noise and strengthen the amplifier’s ability to reproduce subtle dynamic gradations. The result is a presentation that remains open, fluid and highly expressive, even when driving difficult loudspeaker loads.

Fine textures emerge with clarity, stereo images remain stable and tonal colours retain their natural richness, allowing the amplifier to deliver both technical precision and a deeply involving sense of musical flow.

Quadruple-Parallel Output Architecture and Exceptional Drive

The Luxman B-100 Centennial Mono Power Amplifier uses a formidable 4×4 output configuration, with four quadruple-paralleled, triple-stage Darlington push-pull modules dedicated to each monaural channel. This architecture delivers 125 watts into 8 ohms, 250 watts into 4 ohms and up to 1,000 watts of peak output into 1 ohm, while maintaining pure Class A operation up to 25 watts.

Such reserves allow the amplifier to control demanding loudspeakers with exceptional composure, delivering powerful transients, deep bass authority and effortless dynamic scale. A damping factor of more than 1,000 further demonstrates its ability to maintain precise command over driver movement.

Despite this immense capability, the B-100 Centennial avoids sounding mechanical or overcontrolled, instead combining speed, weight and stability with natural timing and expressive freedom.

Massive Power Supply for Unrestricted Musical Energy

A highly regulated power supply gives the Luxman B-100 Centennial Mono Power Amplifier the current delivery and stability required for true flagship performance. At its core is a substantial 1,250VA EI transformer using flat copper windings to reduce electrical loss and improve magnetic coupling.

This is supported by sixteen newly developed 10,000μF filter capacitors, providing a total storage capacity of 160,000μF. The amplifier therefore has the energy reserves to respond instantly to complex musical demands, from the weight of a full orchestral crescendo to the sudden impact of percussion or electronic bass.

Gold-plated peel-coated circuit traces, carefully arranged bus bars and premium 7N Class D.U.C.C. internal wiring further support low-resistance signal and power delivery, helping preserve clarity, dynamic contrast and tonal integrity under all operating conditions.

Resonance-Controlled Construction and Premium Connectivity

The physical construction of the Luxman B-100 Centennial Mono Power Amplifier has been engineered to suppress vibration, reduce grounding interference and provide long-term mechanical stability. A loop-less chassis design minimises unwanted ground impedance, while the heavy-duty steel base plate and large cast-iron feet help isolate sensitive circuitry from external resonance.

The 5mm-thick top panel incorporates precisely machined ventilation openings, supporting effective thermal management while reinforcing the amplifier’s substantial build quality. Premium high-rigidity RCA terminals provide secure connection for unbalanced sources, while balanced inputs accommodate reference-grade system configurations.

Trigger input and output connections allow convenient daisy-chain control within larger installations. Every structural and connectivity detail has been selected to protect signal purity and ensure dependable operation in demanding high-end audio systems.

Timeless Centennial Styling with Reference-Class Performance

Visually, the Luxman B-100 Centennial Mono Power Amplifier expresses the same sculpted design language as the D-100 Centennial, C-10X and M-10X. Its thick front panel features distinctive slanted edging, creating a strong architectural presence, while the large central analogue meter is softly illuminated with warm LEDs for a refined and timeless appearance.

Status indicators are discreetly positioned beneath the meter, and a chrome-plated “CENTENNIAL” badge marks the amplifier’s commemorative status. Measuring 440mm wide, 243mm high and 651mm deep, and weighing 59.5kg, the B-100 Centennial has the physical substance expected of a no-compromise monaural flagship.

More importantly, it combines immense output capability, ultra-low distortion and wide bandwidth with the musical sophistication required to anchor the most ambitious reference systems.
