Description

Chord Epic X subwoofer cable is a high end RCA plug terminated cable that will connect your AV receiver’s subwoofer output to the subwoofers line input. It uses Chord's unique ARAY conductor geometry, to reduce high frequency noise. The result is a musical signal with a high degree of coherence and detail.

Silver plated conductors

The triple conductor configuration features silver plated conductors, with FEP insulation. FEP is a type of PTFE plastic that has good insulation properties and is hard-wearing.

The internal PVC jacket reduces mechanical noise and keeps the dual layer combination shield in place. The cable is made by hand and is fitted with plated Chord VEE 3RCA plugs.

About the ARAY system

The chord ARAY system was developed to reduce high frequency noise. It is primarily used for Ethernet cables, that were not designed to take digital audio signals. However, it is also used for many other types of audio cabling.

About connecting subwoofers

There are many ways to connect a subwoofer to your audio system. However, this depends on the age of your equipment and the available outputs. High-end subwoofers may only have a line level input, that the cable described above, is used for. This is used with AV receivers that have an RCA subwoofer output.

Notably, older amplifiers may not have a subwoofer output at all. Subwoofers can still be used with these systems as described below.

Budget subwoofers will also have speaker level inputs. These are designed to be used with amplifiers that do not have a subwoofer output. Some amplifiers have two sets of speaker outputs. The best place to ‘tap’ the signal is from the second set of speaker connections. These are designed to feed another set of speakers from your amplifier.
