Chord Rumour X Speaker cable is the What Hi-Fi 2019 Award Winner for the "Best speaker cable over £15/m. Supplied in 50m reel the Rumour X has been carefully crafted to deliver even better audio quality in a wide range of systems.
History on Rumour Cable
In creating the Rumour cable, Chord Company investigated the investigated how the cable would perform when combining PTFE insulation for the conductors. They found that instead of the heavy gauge parallel conductors that are usually used, by twisting the conductors together they saw a significant improvement in the noise floor.
Designed around this ideal twist ratio that was found, the Chord Rumour was launched in 1996. It was one of the smallest speaker cables on the market and had the ability to carry detail and dynamics with exceptional coherence.
Improved and Upgraded
Now the Chord Rumour X has undergone many improvements to optimise performance. After vigorous listening tests to find which insulation was better suited, Chord decided to use a material called XLPE for the insulation instead of the previous PTFE.
