The Sarum T Super ARAY USB replaces the Tuned ARAY version. Super ARAY keeps all the original Tuned ARAY conductors in place. The change to Super ARAY specification involves the addition of further ARAY conductors.
The Super ARAY conductors bring big improvements but while the company were developing the Super ARAY USB, they also made some further improvements. Firstly they revised the construction process - and by doing so they have been able to make the Sarum Super ARAY USB cable considerably more flexible than the original Tuned ARAY version.
Sarum T is the most recent, updated version of this range and showcases unique Taylon insulation.
Performance
As well as this, the designers Tadded a layer of constrained vibration damping material. This is a material that The Chord Company developed for the new flagship ChordMusic cable range. By using it on the Sarum T Super ARAY USB they have been able to control the movement of the critical conductors and the levels of refinement this process brings are very worthwhile.
All critical signal conductors feature micro-polished conductors and foamed PTFE insulation, plus a very high density dual layer shielding system. In effect, this is an ultra-high performance sub-miniature coaxial cable. The voltage conductors are carried by an alternative coaxial cable, so all conductors are shielded from each other.
The Plugs
Quality USB plugs are hard to find. In the end, they could only achieve the level of performance we wanted by modifying and then gold-plating -with two microns of 24 karat gold. External strain relief and reinforcement is fitted and this avoids unwanted compression of the signal conductors (profoundly important to the performance of digital cables)
