Description
Ortofon 2M Red is a fantastic phono cartridge; one of the best budget models on the market. It is not surprising that it has received excellent reviews. The cartridge features a tipped elliptical diamond stylus which results in excellent sound quality, with high levels of detail in from your records. The cartridge was developed with Danish designer 'MøllerJensen Design', who were used for the award winning flagship Kontrapunkt and the Jubilee cartridges.
To future proof this cartridge the stylus is replaceable and the body has tapped screw threads, so you can attach the cartridge with a screw rather than having to fiddle around with tiny nuts and bolts. This cartridge offers excellent acoustic performance and is unbeatable in value for money.
Similar to the Ortofon Rondo and Ortofon Cadenza range, the Ortofon 2M range consists of an entry level Red model, followed by a Blue, Bronze and flagship Black model. The 2M Red may be an entry level in the range however it offers excellent value for money and is one of the best value phono cartridges we have ever heard.
