Puritan Audio PS106 Advanced Power Strip
You can earn loyalty points on every order you place on this website. If you select to create an account at checkout, your loyalty points will be saved and you can use these to discount future orders online.
Each product page shows you how many loyalty points you can earn when you order that item. Essentially, for each £1 you spend, you earn 1 loyalty point and for every 1 point earned, 1p will be added to your loyalty point balance (this is the same as some of the UK's biggest loyalty point cards). So for example, if you spend £500, you'll earn 500 loyalty points which can be used to discount a future order by £5.00.

Description
The Puritan Audio PS106 Advanced Power Strip is a six outlet mains cleansing power strip. Each outlet can handle 15 Amps and is filtered against cross contamination. In fact, there are 23 finely tuned filters element stages along with star earthing. Moreover, there is surge protection up to 9000 Amps. Protect your valuable audio equipment from power line surges. Next, the casing is enormously robust and fully shielded against EMI.
Mains conditioners are thought to help with the purity, timing and the definition of the music. There is also the PS106DC, this removes any DC from the mains, allowing transformers to work more efficiently. The PS106 protects against two forms of mains noise, common mode and differential.
What is common mode and differential mode noise?
There are two types of noise that can be present on a mains supply. The first is common mode noise. This is present on both wires and flows in the same direction in both wires. Common mode noise is removed by the use of a choke. The choke has two windings and is usually toroidal in form.
The choke is used in conjunction with a capacitor. The capacitor shorts any high frequency noise to earthed metal casing. Differential noise flows in the opposite direction in each wire and need a different approach. This type of noise is filtered out using a capacitor and inductor combination. In fact, there are several filter stages in the PS106
What is DC blocking?
“DC on the mains” is a common problem and is caused by domestic appliances putting an asymmetrical load on the mains supply. This distorts the AC waveform making the positive and negative cycles uneven. The result is a small amount of DC on the supply. Even a small amount of DC can cause the toroidal transformers used in amplifiers to saturate. This reduces their efficiency and can affect the sound quality. The PS106 DC version can block any DC from getting into your sensitive audio equipment.
Why, power conditioners?
The mains supply can be subject to inference from both inside and outside the home. In rural areas farm machinery can add all kinds of noise. While in urban areas wi-fi signals and mobile phone signals can get into the mains wiring. There is also a danger of power surges from lightning strikes destroying your valuable audio equipment. As a result the PSM 106 protects against surges up to 9000 amps. It also removes most types of mains noise.
