Description
The Puritan Audio PS108 Purist Power Strip is the “Purist” model in the Puritan Audio power strip range. It has no filtration and no voltage clamp (surge) protection. However, it has 8 output sockets as opposed to four with the other units. Moreover, it has the highest integrity of star earth wiring as well as high grade wiring. There is also a DC blocking version with the PS108DC.
What is DC blocking?
The PS108DC version of the mains power strip comes with DC blocking. DC on the mains is a common problem. It is caused by domestic appliances creating an asymmetrical load on the mains supply. This adds a DC component. The AC waveform becomes distorted with the positive and negative cycles becoming uneven. The distorted waveform can cause toroidal transformers to saturate. This reduces their efficiency, especially with transients. Hence removing any DC can improve the sound quality. See the rest of the range for version with filtering and surge protection.
