High End Speaker
A distance from Q Acoustics’ budget range, the Concept 500 is built from scratch taking on a sleek physique and is produced to boost performance. Its biggest distinguishing factor is the substantial advancements carried out on the cabinets.
Dual Gelcore
Dual Gelcore is used for the cabinets and works by sandwiching each layer of MDF with an elastic gel that takes in vibrations and converts them to heat. This technology is similar to the one found in the award-winning Concept 20 and 40 models but it incorporates an additional third layer of MDF for better efficiency. Merged with tougher Point to Point bracing, it lowers unsolicited cabinet din by 30dB, refining stereo image and decreasing colouration for more realistic performances.
Driver Units
Within the freshly designed rubber sound sit dual low-distortion 16.5cm drive units for the mid and bass. Defying their small dimensions with the help of a huge 35mm glass-fibre voice coil, these drivers provide abundant power.
The mechanically decoupled 28mm soft-dome tweeter is mounted in its own rubber gasket to isolate vibrations and a good off-axis response gives a considerably wider sweet spot. The high-frequency is adjustable using links by +/- 0.5dB to suit any room or acoustic preference.
Premium Components
Helmholtz Pressure Equalisers balance the pressure variances that affect tall loudspeaker cabinets for better sound purity while the classy aluminium plinth ensures minimal acoustic reflection. A crossover module by Linkwitz-Riley comprises a Mundorf PP capacitor in the tweeter feed coupled with a matching huge 10x10cm inductor (air-core) fitted in the base of the speaker.
