QED Reference Ethernet Cable
You can earn loyalty points on every order you place on this website. If you select to create an account at checkout, your loyalty points will be saved and you can use these to discount future orders online.
Each product page shows you how many loyalty points you can earn when you order that item. Essentially, for each £1 you spend, you earn 1 loyalty point and for every 1 point earned, 1p will be added to your loyalty point balance (this is the same as some of the UK's biggest loyalty point cards). So for example, if you spend £500, you'll earn 500 loyalty points which can be used to discount a future order by £5.00.

Description
The QED Reference Ethernet cable is designed to provide the most reliable connection possible between networked devices. It can be used to connect the most sensitive audio equipment. Notably, the cable can stream high-resolution audio up to 32bit/385kHz and DSD512.
This well-engineered cable can support 40G Ethernet and is a class 1 category cable. It has enough headroom to deal with current or future demands. Lengths up to five meters are available. Lastly, advanced techniques are used to minimize crosstalk as well as return loss.
Low insertion loss
To keep crosstalk to a minimum, 99.99% Oxygen-free copper twisted pairs, are used by the QED Reference Ethernet cable. Each pair has a dissimilar twist rate to maximize noise rejection. Additionally, the cable has an aluminium Mylar wrap with a ferrite-impregnated jacket.
This reduces the insertion loss and exceeds the CAT 8 insertion loss standard. Moreover, the attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio is high. This avoids introducing any data errors.
Low return loss
As Ethernet cables are two-way devices, return loss can be a problem. As a result, the QED Reference Ethernet cable uses precision-engineered, gold-plated Telegärtner plugs with 360-degree shielded die-cast zinc bodies. These are designed to stop any impedance mismatch between the cable and equipment. As a result data loss and dropouts are avoided.
About QED
QED is renowned for its cables and has a long pedigree of producing superbly engineered connectors. They have been making cables for fifty years and the QED Reference Ethernet cable is based on that experience. QED also makes a wide range of analogue interconnects as well as speaker-switching units.
Why a quality Ethernet cable?
Ethernet cables were never designed to carry sensitive audio signals and standard types are poorly shielded. As a result, they can be prone to dropouts and signal degradation. With today's Hi-res audio, this can lead to excess jitter and grainy audio quality. Hence QED cables are engineered to reduce crosstalk and minimize signal loss.
