Description
Quad II Forty mono monoblock power amplifiers shares the sophisticated elegance of the original Quad II from the 1950's, but its been updated, to be more refined, with an excellent build quality and finish.
The first significant improvement is with the chassis, it is larger to accommodate the new larger components, which are wired by hand, following a similar topology to the original.
Input Valves
The modern listener demands more power than the fifteen watts output of the original Quad II. The new Quad II-forty has used larger output valves, KT88s replace the KT66s and the power supply is more sturdy, utilising a 5U4G rectifier valve. The input valves on the new Quad II forty are so good that they are military grade 6SH7s instead of the previous EF86s.
Lifetime Use
All Quad products are expected to last a lifetime, or even longer. Many Quad buyers are still using their original amplifiers, that were built over half a century ago, and they still derive immense pleasure listening with them. This new amplifier from Quad, is no exception, it has the ability and quality to last 50+ years.
